Code-division multiple access (CDMA) has been proven to be one ofnthe promising mainstream multiaccessing techniques in future cellularnmobile communication systems. A quality-based birth-and-death queueingnmodel is developed for the purpose of evaluating the performance of anCDMA cellular that supports two-rate transmissions. Performance measuresnobtained include channel utilization and call blocking probability.nBased on these results, three call admission schemes are compared
