This paper proposes an analytical study that aims at evaluatingnthe power-control error statistics in wireless direct-sequencencode-division multiple-access (DS-CDMA) cellular systems based on annideal variable step closed-loop power-control scheme. In particular, thencumulative distribution function and the correlation coefficient of thenpower-control error are derived through a first-order Taylor expansionnof the received signal envelope. A novel power-control scheme thatnexploits the autocorrelation properties of the fading is also proposed,nand its performance is analyzed in terms of power-control errornstatistics. Rayleigh and Rice frequency-selective channel models, whichninvolve the use of a diversity RAKE receiver at the base station, havenbeen taken into account. The proposed analytical approach specificallynapplies to CDMA systems. A method that aims at estimating the capacitynof a DS-CDMA cellular network is also given
