Locating the mobile traffic distribution is performed by comparingnmeasured field strength samples with predicted field strength valuesnfrom a radio network planning tool. The convergence of three approachesnhas been investigated: standard deviation method, least mean squaresnmethod, and Gauss probability method. Improvements like call-by-callnevaluation have been introduced to reduce the calculation time and tonimprove the accuracy of the statistical evaluation of the mobile trafficndistribution. The methods were verified using field-strength samples andncorresponding position data of field measurements made with a vehiclenwithin a mobile network. It has been shown that the accuracy ofndetermining the mobile traffic distribution in this way strongly dependsnon the reliability of field strength predictions made by a radio networknplanning tool. With the methods presented, the creation of trafficndatabases with a high resolution and the detection of mobile networknareas with high traffic load-so-called hot spots-becomes possible
