摘要

A range of dynamic channel allocation (DCA) algorithms, namely,ndistributed control and locally distributed control assisted DCAnarrangements, are studied comparatively. The so-called locally optimizednleast interference algorithm (LOLIA) emerges as one of the bestncandidates for future mobile systems, supporting more than twice thennumber of subscribers in comparison to conventional fixed channelnallocation (FCA). It can also cope with unexpected large increases innteletraffic demands while requiring no tedious frequency planning. Thisnis achieved at the cost of more complex call setup and control, and thenrequirement of fast backbone networks for base station-base stationnsignalling. Adaptive antennas are shown to significantly enhance thencapacity of both the LOLIA and FCA-based networks, especially when usednin conjunction with adaptive modulation techniques
