Presents a computational solution to the ultrasonicntarget-dependent spectral distortion for a finite planar target (FT-SD).nThe FT-SD predicts the spectrum of the output signal from the receivingntransducer generated in response to the insonification of a finitenplanar specular target, as a function of incident angle. The transducernis assumed to be operating in pulse-echo mode. The development is madenvia scalar diffraction theory, in terms of the angular spectrumndecomposition of the acoustic source field. Numerical simulations of thenFT-SD are presented for several reflector sizes and orientations,ninsonified by a planar circular piston transducer. Experimentalnverification of results for a finite square planar reflector is givennfor a range of reflector orientations
