The electromechanical characteristics of an asymmetricnpiezoelectric/elastic laminated actuator are investigated bynelectroelasticity and experiments. The axial expansion-bending couplednmotion of the system is separated into quasi-axial expansion andnquasi-bending by its physical significance of vibration modes. Generalnformulation of calculations for the mechanical, electrical, andnelectromechanical characteristics of the structure are presented vianparametric analysis. Finally, the displacement sensitivity and thenfrequency response of displacement and electrical current arenexperimentally measured for this piezoelectric/elastic laminatednspecimen. Close agreement between theoretical and experimental resultsnconfirms the validity of the theory
