摘要

A data structure for image processing that is conceptually a pyramid of hexagonal levels, each level composed of equilateral triangles is presented. Physically, it is implemented as a two-dimensional array. First, the mapping from conceptual to physical data structures is shown, and then several accessing algorithms for the data structure are presented. Finally, a simple “edge detection” process that has been implemented for a demonstration program is explained; the process explanations are accompanied by edge detection results.
