The paper describes a method for automated small-signal frequencynresponse analysis based on transient response obtained using angeneral-purpose simulation tool such as simulation program withnintegrated circuit emphasis (SPICE). The method is based on using thensimulation tool to evaluate the converter impulse response. The mainnadvantage of the proposed method as a design verification tool is thatnfrequency responses can be generated efficiently for any converternconfiguration and any model complexity supported by the general-purposensimulator. Application examples are included to demonstrate very goodncorrelation between the generated responses and experimental data, andnto compare the results with predictions of approximate analyticalnmethods. In particular, the method is applied to investigatenhigh-frequency dynamics of pulse width modulation (PWM) convertersnoperating in discontinuous conduction mode, and the results are used toncompare and validate several existing analytical modeling approaches
