In this paper, a novel rotor position estimation scheme isndescribed that was developed to overcome the drawbacks of the previousnsensorless techniques, which were proposed for switched reluctance (SR)nmotor drives. It is based on fuzzy-logic, and does not require complexnmathematical models or large look up tables. The scheme was implementednby using a digital signal processor. The real-time experimental resultsngiven in this paper show that the position estimation method proposedncan provide accurate and continual position data over a wide range ofnspeeds (zero/low/high), and can also function accurately at differentnoperating conditions (chopping/single pulse mode and steadynstate/transient operation)
