In this paper, a new hybrid active power filter topology isnpresented. A higher-voltage, low-switching frequency insulated gatenbipolar transistor (IGBT) inverter and a lower-voltage high-switchingnfrequency metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor (MOSFET)ninverter are used in combination to achieve harmonic currentncompensation. The function of the IGBT inverter is to support utilitynfundamental voltage and to compensate for the fundamental reactivenpower. The MOSFET inverter fulfills the function of harmonic currentncompensation. To further reduce cost and to simplify control, the IGBTnand MOSFET inverters share the same DC-link via a split capacitor bank.nWith this approach harmonics can be cancelled over a wide frequencynrange. Compared to the conventional APF topology, the proposed approachnemploys lower dc-link voltage and generates less noise. Simulation andnexperimental results show that the proposed active power filter topologynis capable of compensating for the load harmonics
