摘要

The effect of grain size on coercivity in Bi-substituted polycrystalline garnet films is investigated. The coercive force is found to decrease with decreasing grain size in samples having single-domain-size grains. The decrease is especially dramatic for chemically deposited films. This effect is fairly well explained by thermal fluctuations of magnetization inside the grain. The results obtained make it possible to determine the optimal characteristics of such films for use in magnetooptic memory.
