A tribute to Jagadis Chunder Bose on the occasion of his sesquicentennial birthday celebration [Reverberations]

Jagadis Chunder Bose, popularly known as J.C. Bose, was a quiet, gentle, and unassuming scientist, with an avuncular disposition. You wouldn't know if you just took a casual glance at him, but who--in the opinion of many--was well ahead of his time by about 50 or 60 years. Many of the pioneering discoveries he made, for instance in the areas of wireless propagation, mm waves, crystal detectors, and semiconductor physics, to name just a few, date back to late 19th and early 20th century, long before they became so intertwined with our lives that we don't even give them a second thought when we use devices based on these discoveries.
