摘要

The objective of this study was to determine the mechanism of anphenomenon peculiar to phase-change recording regarding the mark shapenor mark-forming process. The following results were obtained from ournsimulation of mark shapes, transparency electron microscopenobservations, and analysis of reproduced signals. A method ofncalculating a mark shape by calculating the holding-time profile wasndevised and its appropriateness was confirmed. We found there were closenrelationships between the cooling pulse shape, the effective erasenratio, the reproduced signal amplitude, and the noise level, and thatnthe temperature change when the mark edge was cooled has a greatninfluence on the stability of the mark shape and crystallized regions
