摘要

We have made use of the properties of plastic optical fibersn(POFs) to develop a sensor for determining the wind speed in a windngenerator. As POFs are easy to handle, flexible, economical, and immunento electromagnetic interference, we have utilized them to design anninexpensive sensor that is not affected by storms, which are one of thenmajor problems in wind generators. Both theoretical and experimentalnresults are presented. Specifically, we study the dynamicncharacteristics of the sensor by taking into account the lightnreflections on a mobile surface and by using two different theoreticalnapproaches. The corresponding experimental results corroborate thenvalidity of such approaches
