Noise of mode-locked semiconductor lasers

Analytical expressions for the amplitude, frequency, timing, andncarrier phase noise of mode-locked laser diodes (MLLDs) are derived. Itnis found both experimentally and theoretically that carrier dynamicsncontribute to the total noise of MLLDs. In addition, we demonstrate hownto capture the high-frequency timing jitter with optical crossncorrelations
