摘要

In large scale, operational Internet protocol networks, creatingntimely, accurate and network-wide views of the intradomain topology is anfundamental problem. Topical network backbones consist of hundreds ofnrouters, which establish routing adjacencies with one another throughnstatic configuration and dynamic routing protocols, such as opennshortest path first (OSPF). We describe the design of an OSPF topologynserver which tracks intradomain topology, by passively and safelynlistening into OSPFs reliable flooding mechanism, or by pushing andnpulling information from the routers via the simple network managementnprotocol. We provide a detailed evaluation and comparison of the twonapproaches in terms of operational issues, reliability and timeliness ofninformation
