Google Vis-a-Vis Library Services: Aspects and Prospects

Purpose - This paper is to recognise the significance of Google in the digital era. Nullifies the assumption that Google may replace libraries. Lists the products and services of Google. Analyses how it can be used as a tool to provide library services. Approach - Discussion is made in the form of review of literature published since year 2000 to present the usefulness of google apps. Findings - Google cannot replace libraries. It can be used as a tool to reach to the user community to provide effective and efficient library services. Commitment, dedication and will to use the Google will surely help the library professionals to provide better services. Originality - Provides a first hand useful information on use of Google to provide library services in small and medium sized libraries. It can help them to devise initial programs.
