National e-Government Developments in Europe

All 27 European countries have launched e-Gover-nment initiatives mainly directed to improvement of governance at the national level. The following are reports describing the laws, policies and programs of several EU members (prepared by wiki/EGovernment_ in .Europe) Extensive reference sources are cited in each profile. In March 1989 a National Government Computerization Master Plan was adopted for the period 1989-1997 aiming to examine the governmental information needs and identify potential ICT application. To speed up the process of implementation the plan, the Data Management Strategy (DMS) later adopted provided structural information in order to fulfill the requirements of the public sector.
