The conference notes that in recent years the problem of wear and obsolescence of equipment of electric power stations and networks has steadily become exacerbated in Russia's power industry. The capacities of thermal and hydroelectric power station equipment that has exhausted its life are increasing. According to the available predictive evaluation, for the existing rate of renovation and established approaches to the use of installed capacity, 49/100, or 84 million kWh, of generating equipment will have exhausted its life by the year 2005.
