At the present time, there are different designs of votex tunnel spillways, including those for actual conditions (for example, the Rogun and Tel'mamsk hydroelectric plants, etc.). Vortex spillways with tangential vortex flow generators deserve mention due to the simplicity of the design of the involuting device, which is a basic element of the spillway. These vbortex generators are usually distinguished from vortex gates and other involuting devices not only by simplicity of design, but also by operational reliability; they are therefore adapted to use for hydraulic facilities under construction, for example, the Tupolangsk facility in Uzbekistan, and the Tehri facility in India.
