Nowhere more so than in dry environments does the distribution of water have such significance. In dry environments water is the limiting factor for most biophysical processes. In this context, the priority given by the International Hydrological Programme (IHP) in Phase V to integrated water-resource management in arid and semi-arid zones is wholly justified. This book is an outcome of that priority, and it seeks to provide a guidebook on hydrological processes in arid and semi-arid zones.
