Peculiarities of Metals Migration in the 'Bottom Sediments Water' System with Decreasing pH and Increasing the Concentration of Fulvic Acids

摘要

Results of experimental studies on iron, manganese, and aluminum migration in the "bottom sediments - water" system with decreasing pH and increasing the concentration of fulvic acids are given in the paper. It has been found that joint action of these two factors results in the significant increase in the intensity of metals migration from bottom sediments into the water. Free (hydrated) ions of Fe~2+ and its complex compounds with organic matter are of considerable importance in the process of iron migration, which is conditioned by the processes of reduction and complexation involving mainly fulvic acids. Migration of manganese is conditioned primarily by anaerobic conditions and by a decrease in pH. Intensive influx of aluminum from bottom sediments is conditioned mainly by a decrease in pH in experimental systems and by the increase in the content of fulvic acids in the water.
