Best of Northwest Offers Package Tours for Area Students

"Best of the Northwest" may sound like a gourmand's tour of the northwestern U.S. but what tour participants are actually "sampling" are a variety of outdoor educational sites. Tacoma Power is collaborating with nine other organizations involved in environmental education to offer area students and their teachers a menu of two-to five-day tour packages. Tour goers can visit a hydropower plant, a wildlife preserve, a national forest, a pioneer farm, and other area attractions in eastern Pierce County, Wash., to learn about various subjects including renewable electricity generation, wildlife, geology, and Native American concerns.
