BC Hydro's Approach to Standardization of Unit Control

BC Hydro is in the midst of a ten-year project to retrofit its hydroelectric facilities. One element of this upgrade is the installation of new unit control equipment, monitoring systems, alarms, and electrical and mechanical protection. By standardizing unit control systems across all facilities, BC Hydro expects to save millions of dollars each year in operations and maintenance costs.
