Uneven cooling of the generator stators at 980-MW Long Spruce forced owner Manitoba Hydro to restrict operation of the ten 130 megavolt-ampere (MVa) units to 115 MVa. Modifying air flow through the generators allowed the utility to return the project to full capacity and avoided millions of dollars in lost electricity production.
