Cleaning Water Conveyances: Hydro Tasmania Boosts Power Production

Over the years, the buildup of bacterial deposits and slime on the inside of water conveyances resulted in significant electricity losses at Hydro Tasmania's 29 hydroelectric facilities. The utility is in the midst of a testing and cleaning program that should yield an increase of more than 67 gigawatt-hours of electricity production each year at existing facilities.
