Hawaii prepares for CODA EV and Nissan LEAF demos

Under the Hawaii Clean Energy Initiative launched by Governor Linda Lingle and the U.S. DOE in 2008, Hawaii's vision is to have clean energy account for 70% of its total energy needs by 2030. Over 100,000 miles of use, each CODA Sedan will result in an average CO_2 savings of 21.8 tons relative to a 25 MPG internal combustion engine-based car. Hawaii has demonstrated policy leadership through the creation of a $4,500 state tax credit towards the purchase of an electricrnvehicle and a $500 state tax credit towards the purchase and installation of a home charging station.
