On September 20, the House passed the Forced Arbitration Injustice Repeal Act (FAIR Act), which wouldprohibit pre-dispute arbitration agreements from being valid or enforceable when they require arbitration of anemployment, consumer, antitrust, or civil rights dispute. The measure is aimed at "re-establishing Americans’ 7thAmendment right to seek justice and accountability through the court system."The mostly party-line vote of 225-186 saw two Republicans crossing the aisle to vote with Democrats whofavored the bill, and two Democrats joining Republicans to oppose the legislation. The only Independent votedisfavored the bill.
