In January 2009, the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA), implemented a new policy aimed at reducing the incidence of multiple births following IVF in the UK. The policy is outcome based, allowing clinics the flexibility to develop their own single embryo transfer (SET) strategy that is appropriate for them and the patients they treat.
