摘要

By focusing on activity and by viewing the dyad as a system, de Barbara and her colleagues provide further evidence for the continuity of joint attention development and triadic skills that build from each other. They highlight the importance of the dyad in developing early social and cognitive skills and show that infants' behaviors elicit novel behaviors from their caretakers and have cascading effects. As highlighted by Campos et al. [2000], "Travel broadens the mind" and so does grasping, mouthing, and looking at objects. De Barbaro and colleagues remind us to use care in describing "social revolutions," to question mechanisms, and to look back to determine how development may move forward.
