JUMBO SPIRIT

After successful trials, the heavy-lift carrier 'Jumbo Spirit' was recently handed over to her owners by the YVC Ysselwerf B. V. (YVC) at Ca-pelle a/d IJssel, the Netherlands. The naming ceremony was performed by Mrs A Kahn-Holtgrefe. The heavy-lift vessel, which has a combined total lifting capacity of 500t, is the first unit in a series of three G-class newbuildings. The second unit is scheduled for delivery half of 1995 while the third and last unit is due for delivery at the end of 1995. With the completion of this third unit, YVC will have completed its tenth vessel for Jumbo Shipping. The G-class new-buildings constitute a part of the owners' continuing fleet renewal programme.
