In 1995 Pattje Shipyards celebrated the inauguration of the Pattje Assembly Yard in the Eemshaven. This unique outfitting location enabled Pattje Shipyards to build tonnage of the next generation, such as the 'Maasdiep' with her 6,800 ton deadweight and 600 TEU slot spaces. The 'Maasdiep' is a full scantling single screw vessel built under yard number 393. She was launched on the 6 March 1997 at Alblas Shipyard in Hendrik Ido Ambacht and has been handed over to her owners Maasdiep C.V., Groningen, the Netherlands, after sea trials in June 1997.
