HUD Gets Better Management Report for Assisted Housing; OIG Urges Action on 2530 Automation

HUD's latest storecard for the President's Management Agenda (PMA) gave the department improved marks for making progress in reducing rent subsidy overpayments and improving the quality of public and assisted housing during fiscal 2004. In a separate management report, the HUD Office of Inspector General (OIG) urged the full implementation of the automated system for Form 2530 previous participation certification of multifamily program participants. The PMA report showed that HUD has surpassed all of the interim goals set for reducing the estimated $2 billion in net annual rental housing assistance overpayments, with a reduction of 71 percent to $568 million in fiscal 2003.
