摘要

A bill to exclude military housing allowances from income in determining eligibility for federal housing assistance drew support from witnesses at a February 8 House housing subcommittee hearing who said it would promote use of the low-income housing tax credit in areas around military bases. However, the National Low Income Housing Coalition (NLIHC) opposed the bill (H.R. 3186), arguing that the Pentagon should provide service members a salary or housing allowance sufficient to cover their housing costs.
