Bill to Facilitate Access to Federal Courts for Property Rights Claims Reported Out of Committee

The House Judiciary Committee has reported out legislation (H.R. 4772) intended to give owners alleging violations of property rights easier access to federal courts. (For background, see Current Developments, Vol. 34, No. CD-13, p. 399.) The bill, which was introduced by Rep. Steve Chabot (R-Ohio), chairman of the committee's Constitution subcommittee, is aimed at restrictions on federal court access established by the U.S. Supreme Court in 1985 and 2005.
