IRS Issues Proposed Rule to Expand Ways to Calculate Utility Allowances

The Internal Revenue Service has issued proposed rules that increase the methods for establishing utility allow- ances for low-income housing tax credit projects, including the use of a HUD computer modeling program. The rules were published in the June 19 Federal Register, and comments are due September 17. A public hearing has been scheduled for October 9 in Washington.
