Kentucky Gives Owners Flexibility In Utility Allowance Calculations

The Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHC) has revised its utility allowance rules to give some low-income housing tax credit projects more flexibility over which approach they use to calculate allowances. The new rules implement final Internal Revenue Service regulations providing additional options for calculating utility allowances: a HUD utility schedule model; utility estimates from the agency with jurisdiction over the building; and a computer energy consumption model.
