Appendix 19C Supportive Housing for the Elderly and Persons with Disabilities (24 C.F.R. 891)

This rule represents the final rulemaking for HUD's Section 202 Program of Supportive Housing for the Elderly and the Section 811 Program of Supportive Housing for Persons with Disabilities, both of which HUD has previously implemented through several interim rules. As part of President Clinton's regulatory reinvention initiative, this final rule also consolidates and streamlines the regulations for these two programs in order to make them easier to use and understand. This rule also eliminates obsolete regulations from 24 C.F.R. part 885 regarding the Loans for Housing for the Elderly or Handicapped Program, and moves the remaining provisions to a subpart within the consolidated supportive housing regulations. Furthermore, information that is also in the statute or that should be more appropriately placed in the program handbook or in Notices of Funding Availability (NOFAs) has been deleted from the regulations.
