Federal Housing Finance Agency Releases Five-Year Strategic Plan

The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) has released a 2009-2014 strategic plan for regulation of the housing-related government-sponsored enterprises (GSEs) that establishes goals for safety and soundness; support for a stable mortgage market, including sustainable homeownership and affordable housing; and conservation of GSE assets. The plan is the FHFA's first since it was created as the regulator for Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the Federal Home Loan Banks by the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008 (HERA).
