Public Housing, Tenant Advocacy Groups Submit Comments on Draft Choice Neighborhoods Legislation

In comments on HUD's draft Choice Neighborhoods legislation, public housing organizations said that PHAs should be designated the lead agency for revitalization grants involving public housing, that funding should be set aside specifically for public housing redevelopment, and that other federal agencies must provide funding support for the program.rnTenant advocacy groups said in their comments that the exceptions HUD would allow to the one-for-one replacement requirement for public housing are too broad and that there should be a requirement to replace all project-based Section 8 units as well. They also recommended that each target neighborhood should have a plan to assure housing affordability for 30 years.
