Rep. John Olver (D-Mass.), ranking member on the House HUD appropriations subcommittee, has announced that he will retire at the end of the 112th Congress. Olver has been in Congress since 1991 and served as subcommittee chairman when the Democrats controlled the House. Dennis Nolan has been appointed deputy director of the Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) Fund. Nolan was deputy chief financial officer in the Department of Administration and Finance at the Millennium Challenge Corporation, an independent foreign aid agency focused on the fight against global poverty.
