Housing markets hit hard by the recession could take years to recover, and some neighborhoods within those markets may never come all the way back, according to a study released by the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA). "The future viability of these areas may be threatened by recent economic events," said James R. Follian, senior fellow of the Rockefeller Institute of Government and author of the study, which was sponsored by MBA's Research Institute for Housing America.
