EXPANSION OF THE LOW INCOME HOUSING TAX CREDIT PROPOSED

U.S. Senators Maria Cantwell (D-WA) and Senate Finance Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) re-introduced on March 7, 2017, the Affordable Housing Credit Improvement Act, which is intended to expand the Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) by 50 percent (The 2016 version was S. 2962). Cantwell and Hatch were joined by Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR), ranking member of the Finance Committee; Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY), the Democratic Leader; and Senators Cory Booker (D-NJ), Dean Heller (R-NV), Leahy (D-VT), Jeff Merkley (D-OR), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), Brian Schatz (D-HI), and Todd Young (R-IN).
