FHFA RELEASES FURTHER DATA ON NON-PERFORMING LOAN SALES

The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) has released its fourth report providing information about the sale of non-performing loans (NPLs) by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (the GSEs). The Enterprise Non-Performing Loan Sales Report (goo.gl/pki 9ob) includes information about NPLs sold through June 30, 2017. It reflects borrower outcomes as of June 30, 2017, on NPLs sold through December 31, 2016. Sale of NPLs reduces the number of severely delinquent loans in the GSEs' portfolios. FHFA and the GSEs impose requirements on NPL buyers to encourage prioritization of outcomes for borrowers other than foreclosure.
