Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts is launching a casual and contemporary brand called Dhawa, which takes its name, philosophy and design from the dhawa tree in East India. The brand has five touch points: Rooms are dubbed Cocoons with oversized pillows and a moveable table with built-in power outlets. The bathroom, known as the Pod, is equipped with a rain shower, LED mood lighting, spa-branded amenities and Bluetooth music speakers. There will be a communal space on each floor of the hotel, called the Nest, with complimentary refreshments including ice cream. Void is located in the lobby and provides relaxation pods, while the all-day restaurant and bar is called Nook. The sensory experience also includes neon lights, pop operatic music and surprise daily boosters. The Dhawa Bo'ao, China in the eastern coastal town on Hainan Island opens in March, while Dhawa Cayo Las Brujas, Cuba, opens in July, Plans also include Pu'er, Leishan and Luo Yang, in China, as well as Bangkok and Phuket in Thailand.
