At once whimsical, urban, and industrial, textured exteriors bring together a city founded on binaries-where North and South meet and meld. Music City's essence can be hard to grasp because of these dualities, but HKS played up the differences in the design of the Omni Nashville Hotel. "The industrial quality and urban fabric were a very important part of our building aesthetic," explains Eddie Abeyta, principal of the Dallas-based architecture firm.
