摘要

年内香港有一件又一件的悲劇，也有一個义一個的祝福。馬尼拉港人旅遊巴士被 挾持事件及最終悲劇收場正好顯示出失誤的拯救計劃和無能的行政，不但對問 題毫無益處，對已慘受驚嚇的人質和他們的家屬造成更多的傷害。全城的心這 刻都連結如一，更期盼著梁仲學的康復。之後又有一位海關人員在執勤的時候 誤傷肝臟，導致急性肝衰竭，後得一位不認識的同袍英勇捐肝救人。再一次香 港市民的心連結一起，展現人性中最美麗的一面。雖然如此，我們委實不需要 更多的悲劇來促進社會團結。更準確地說，在一個關懷的社區裡面，人們所珍 愛的價值自然會呈現這些美善；這些美善應該同時惠及那些軟弱的、貧窮的、 沒優勢的，不但在特困的日子，也在一般的日子。%There are repeated tragedies and yet repeated blessings in the year for Hong Kong. The bus siege in Manila and the subsequent loss of lives had been most tragic. It was indicative of how inadequate planning and incompetent administration could have done more harm than good to the already pain stricken victims and their families. The city was united as one and hoped for the recovery of Jason Leung, the sole surviving child of a woman who lost both her husband and daughter in the incident. Then came a Custom Officer who accidently damaged his liver in an operation and an heroic donor who did not know the patient personally. Again, in difficult times, people's hearts are united as one, revealing the most beautiful virtue we all have inside. However, we do not need more tragedies like these to boost social cohesion. To put it more accurately, in a caring community, good deeds like these will happen, reflecting the kind of values that we cherish. The weak, the poor, and the disadvantaged should receive charity, not only in bad times, but also in every other usual times.
