DNDO SEEKS TECHNOLOGY FOR NUKE DETECTION, VERIFICATION & FORENSICS

The Department of Homeland Security's Domestic Nuclear Detection Office is seeking various solutions to improve upon current nuclear detection, verification and forensics technology, according to a broad agency announcement released late last month. The BAA is the work of the Transformational and Applied Research Directorate (TARD), the entity within DNDO charged with pursuing aggressive, 'high-risk-high-return' R&D. At least $3 million in funding is available for solutions "that will dramatically improve national capabilities to detect and report attempts to import or transport a nuclear device, Special Nuclear Material (SNM), or radiological materials intended for illicit use," the notice states.
