Target Shoppers Hit by Credit Card Theft

Target said it was hit with a sophisticated credit card sting that took place just as the holiday shopping season got underway. The retailer said about 40 million credit and debit card accounts may have been exposed when customers swiped their cards in its U.S. stores between Nov. 27 and Dec. 15. The theft was not online. All forms of credit cards were said to be impacted.
