August Kicks off with Comp Gain Thanks to BTS, Tax-free Shopping

The tax-free week end across several U.S. states boosted comps by 3.7% in the first week of August, according to the Johnson Redbook Retail Sales Index. Month-to-date, August was up 3.7% compared to August of last year, relative to a revised target of a 3.9% gain. Month-over-month showed a 0.4% gain, relative to a target of a 0.5% gain.
